About frontporchgab

My name is Christy and I live in San Diego. I’m 53 years old and love finding humor in life. I have been married for four years (second marriage) and we have five 20 something kids between the two of us. My husband and I are raising two adorable mutts that we treat and talk to like we do our own kids. Ah, those child rearing days have come again. Weekends I love riding our Harley with my husband, summer camping in the Sierras or at our beautiful coasts, walk dog park with our mutts, reading, ancestry.com, traveling-anywhere, spending time with family; I'm generally up for anything that doesn't involve jumping out of a plane. I'm new to blogging and am I'm finding myself excited about writing again. Any suggestions you can send my way I would love to hear from you!

What can I say— I am a white-knuckler. Not the trapped-in-traffic-and-late-for-an- appointment type, but with my significant relationship in my life. I have never found it easy to give up control, especially since I am naturally head strong and was … Continue reading

Buried treasure is always fun to find

I really found a treasure buried deep in the back of a closet. It is a letter my mother had written to her sister, Marty, on July 10, 1962. The letter is about helping her dear friend and neighbor, Dusty, … Continue reading

The lessons I’ve learned from Grandma Pie

There are no accidents, as in, I do believe that God works in our lives. We can refer to the God power in any number of ways, but to me, it is undeniably real. I believe people are brought into … Continue reading

Favorite Word…”Shenanigans”

I have to say my all time favorite word is “shenanigans”. The word in itself makes me chuckle. My family and colleagues have heard me say that my day isn’t complete unless I use that word at least once a … Continue reading

The tortoise is my hero.

I truly love and admire the tortoise with his “slow and steady wins the race” philosophy. Unfortunately, I am the hare. I blast off with great gusto and enthusiasm and half way to the finish line I decide I’m not … Continue reading
